About This CD

The CD titled EMBRACE is a collection of songs in English written about Ammachi, a saint from Southern India. Over the last 13 years, her example as a spiritually expanded being has been a great inspiration for me. I wanted to contribute something to her ongoing relief efforts for disaster victims (Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, etc) for which she has pledged over 23 million dollars. The proceeds from the sale of this CD will go directly to her efforts in this regard.(read more)

Editorial Reviews

Music Design Magazine/Milwaukee, WI We could all learn something about love and compassion from Indian humanitarian Amma. Over the last few years, her efforts to heal and tend to the sick, feed the hungry, find jobs for the downtrodden and aid the victims of the Indonesian tsunami disaster have aided thousands of people. And she does it all with a smile and a loving embrace. Designed partly to benefit Amma's charities and partly to honor the amazing, sympathetic figure, Wah! has compiled an album of soft, thoughtful songs about peace and giving. Embrace is reminiscent of Opium in its use of English-language songs with an East/West folk feel, although Embrace is the more gentle and meditative of the two albums. Backing Wah! is a mellow drone of harmonium, tabla rhythms and acoustic guitar. Proceeds from the sale of the CD are being donated to Amma's charities. 8/8/2006

Fan Reviews

Tejas/Berkeley, CA I think if I was a popular musician like you I'd make a cd like Embrace so people can be connected to her. Sometimes I buy a shirt for myself from the Amma store and then a little while later stuff it into some one else's backpack as a gift from Her! 9/25/08

Sam/New York City  I was at East West Books in NYC last eve and snapped up a copy of Embrace. Went home and listened to it and of course this morning had to hear it again before work. I've got Save Me repeating itself in my head!Water is such a beautiful song as is Tapasya. You sound superb. Another facet to the jewel is revealed. 8/21/06

Autumn/Santa Cruz, CA  Just found out from the Embrace CD that it was beautiful you on This World which is sans credits. Your two tracks [Water & One in a Million] are the ones I often set to repeat! Thank you for all you do and the benefits for Amma's projects, your seva is inspiring to everyone around you. 8/7/2006

Vidya/Glen Ridge, NJ  I purchased EMBRACE at Ammachi's program in NYC. Thank you for putting this collection together. And thank you for your beautiful description of Track 10; I burst into tears as I read it. Mother is with me every time I listen to Embrace, as I know She was with you while you wrote the songs. Thank you for sharing the Love...Om Amriteshwaryai Namah,Vidya 7/20/2006
