About This CD

Paul Hollman and I had worked together for six years, creating WAH! Savasana CDs, Jai Jai Jai, English songs for the Amma benefit CD (Embrace), performing and touring together. But we had never really collaborated or written any music together. Paul composed music for commercials and film. I wrote lyrics and books, and magazine articles. We wanted something that would deepen our creative experience together...(read more)

Editorial Reviews

eReview/Music Design Magazine Building from her devotional chant, spiritual folk and pop music sound, Wah! takes her newest release in different direction. With added dance beats and lounge vibes, she grooves with energy and joy you won't want to miss. When I first heard this release I had to stop and start it a few times taking the CD out of the player to remind myself of who I was listening to. Now LOVE HOLDING LOVE is one album I enjoy listening to when I need a burst of energy or feel like hearing something more hip and trendy. With six Sanskrit chants and six love songs in English, this release is sure to please listeners of all ages searching for something unique in the genre of sacred / chant / vocal recordings. February 2009

Yoga Journal Magazine/San Fransisco Mantra-scene veteran Wah! seems to be halfway between samadhi (union) and ecstasy. Her theme is the oneness of Divine love and eros. And to make her point, she combines sultry downtempo grooves, throbbing club beats, shimmery cascades of electric piano, warm oceans of sonic synthesizers, and sensuous 1970s R&B balladry. Obviously, a lot is going on here, but somehow these evocative musical settings support both traditional Sanskrit mantras and Wah!'s pop vocal melodies sung in English. The album contains some of the catchiest tunes in Wah!'s vast catalog, and on some tracks, she lays down her love dharma in spoken-word passages that combine rap rhythms with Beat poetry. And when the groove's in full gear, she has us right where she wants us: blissed out and deep in the throes of a love that can't be labeled. February 2009

Music Design Magazine/Milwaukee, WI Wah! is an artist that likes to challenge the chant music status quo. Her albums are a testament to her explorative spirit, offering everything from straightforward devotional chant to spiritual folk to full on pop music. LOVE HOLDING LOVE takes her sound in yet another direction; in this case dance and lounge music. One one hand, you have songs like Hanuman and Ma Chant (Kali) where the grooves are full of floor-blazing energy and pure vocal joy. On the other you have songs like Girl in the Video, Brazil and Maha Deva, where the vibe is mellow and deeply chillded, while Wah!'s voice takes on a soul/R&B tinge... This is certainly one of the most successful marriages of Sanskrit chant and club culture to date. Oct/Nov 2008

Buy.com Meshing the worlds of New Age, world music, and ambient electronica, Wah! (not to be confused with the similarly named British rockers led by Pete Wylie) is a captivating, L.A.-based singer who has become a sensation in the yoga world with her spiritual, Eastern-tinged sound. LOVE HOLDING LOVE mixes mellow chill-out grooves with Eastern modalities, and is evenly split between six songs based on Sanskrit chants and six English-language love songs.

Spirit Voyage Music/Herndon, VA Wah! has been captivating audiences around the world, with her upbeat interpretations of ancient Sanskrit mantras infused with pop, reggae and folk melodies. Her latest album, “Love Holding Love”, showcases her indisputably unique, sultry voice as she reinvents the genre of kirtan chant through an amazing synthesis of Sade like chill sounds. Her mesmerizing, hypnotic voice creates a bridge from the ancient, meditative tones to the contemporary, ecstatic sound of western culture.

Missy/Naples, FL
I play "Love Holding Love" in my yoga classes all the time, I absolutely love it! Especially the song "Unconditional" which I like to play during savasana. It just takes me away, it is just the most beautiful song. Thanks for putting out such amazing music! June 17, 2009

Sat-Kartar/Phoenix, AZ I am enjoying every single track of your new CD. Your voice is better, more seasoned, and more honest than it ever has been—don’t know if that is love, or just some deeper level of you—not sure, but whatever it is, keep it up. December 16, 2008

Aaron Star/New York City
First of all, I just can't tell you how much I love this album. Seriously, you have got to get some club remixes made, especially of Ma Chant and Hanuman. I can see thousands of naked men dancing to it! December 11, 2008

Anita Hong-Ha Le/Los Angeles, CA
What a wonderfully perfect blend of chill, down-tempo and trip hop beats and arrangements with ancient mantra and cool jazzy messages of love.  I am utterly impressed at how versatile this album is and there is a little bit of everything for every musical taste.  Even the pulsing dance beats work incredibly well with the mantra.  I sing, dance and clap my hands all the way through LA traffic to get to and from work. October 20, 2008

Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band/ New Orleans, LA We picked up your new album a few days ago and LOVE it!!!! What a sweet, positive, hip, loving, fresh, present transmission. You sound radiant. Thank you for your inspiring music. Love All Around. October 13, 2008

Daniel Rindfuss/ Frederick MD Love Holding Love is a perfect album for the 21st century. A "Wah-ful" collection of hypotonic mantras combined with the smoothest of blended jazz fusions. This album will move seamlessly from your I-Pod, home, car, vinyasa flow studio, yogic trance dance, or contemporary night club. Close your eyes during the Ganesha or Maha Deva Soulshine tracks and you will visualize a dancing Lord Shiva. I know why Wah is now smiling: this album is a masterpiece. We have the music sutras from Sri Wah!!! September 19, 2008
