On Sunday, Unity church of Gainesville is bringing in the band WAH!, which combines chanting and a very direct spirituality with rock and reggae music. A 10-year veteran of the road, WAH! uses bass, drums, harmonium and electric guitar for the yoga/chanting audience. The band’s leader, who is also named WAH!, had this to say:

“Chanting and meditation give you a chance to sort out what you are thinking and feeling. As the thoughts surface, you can look at them.

“I find that even with the practices of meditation, that my feelings surface most deeply at the oddest times, “ she continues. “They are times of pause during the day – while I am at the checkout counter at the supermarket, waiting for a light to turn green, waiting for the emails to download, staring out the window… The pause allows our true feelings to surface.”

Tickets will be available at the door for $20. The 6:30 pm show is at 8801 NW 39th Ave.
